1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Enshrine (the "App" or "Service"), operated by Austin Nelson, doing business as Enshrine ("Enshrine," "we," "us," or "our").
By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, California Privacy Policy where applicable, Community Guidelines, and Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we will provide notice in the App or by another reasonable method before the change takes effect where required by law. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
2. Service Scope and Availability
Enshrine is currently intended for users located in the United States and Canada. The Service is not intended for users located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or other jurisdictions where Enshrine has not made the Service available.
We may limit access to some features based on location, age, verification status, subscription status, safety review, device permissions, or legal requirements.
3. Eligibility
You may not create an account or use the Service unless all of the following are true:
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You are legally able to enter a binding agreement.
- You are not prohibited from using the Service under applicable law.
- You are not located in a country or region subject to a U.S. government embargo or similar restriction.
- You are not on a U.S. government restricted-party list.
- You are not required to register as a sex offender with any federal, state, provincial, territorial, or local registry.
- You do not have another active Enshrine account unless we expressly permit it.
- You have not previously been removed or banned from the Service unless we give written permission to return.
We may require age verification, liveness verification, or other safety checks to confirm eligibility and reduce fraud, impersonation, and ban evasion.
4. Account Registration and Security
You must provide accurate, current, and complete information and keep it updated. You are responsible for your account credentials and all activity under your account.
You must notify us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.
Deleting the App from your device does not delete your account or cancel a subscription. You may delete your account through the in-app account settings, subject to safety, legal, payment, and record-retention requirements described in the Privacy Policy.
5. Verification, Liveness, and Biometrics
Enshrine uses AWS Rekognition Face Liveness to confirm that a user is a live person and to reduce fake accounts, fraud, and ban evasion. Liveness verification is not a criminal background check and does not guarantee a user's identity, intentions, health, safety, or trustworthiness.
We may also use age-verification measures, which may include a third-party age-verification provider if configured. If age verification is unavailable or unsuccessful, you may be unable to use the Service.
If an account is banned for safety or policy reasons, Enshrine may use a face identifier derived from a profile or verification image to help detect attempted re-registration by the same person. Face-match results are routed for human review before a ban-evasion decision is made. A face-match review may temporarily block access while the review is pending.
Our Privacy Policy describes biometric, verification, retention, and deletion practices in more detail.
6. User Conduct and Prohibited Content
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Misrepresent your identity, age, location, qualifications, employment, affiliations, or intentions.
- Harass, bully, stalk, intimidate, threaten, defame, assault, exploit, or harm another person.
- Impersonate another person or entity.
- Upload or send illegal, pornographic, sexually explicit, violent, defamatory, hateful, exploitative, or rights-infringing content.
- Upload or send child sexual abuse material, sexual content involving minors, or content that exploits or endangers minors.
- Share non-consensual intimate images or private sexual content.
- Promote self-harm, eating disorders, dangerous challenges, terrorism, violent extremism, or physical harm.
- Coordinate illegal activity on or through the Service.
- Use the Service for scams, phishing, spam, commercial solicitation, unauthorized advertising, escort services, sex work, trafficking, coercion, pyramid schemes, or "sugar" relationships.
- Request or send money, financial information, account credentials, or items of value from users.
- Use bots, scrapers, automation, reverse engineering, or security testing without our written permission.
- Circumvent verification, moderation, rate limits, bans, or platform-integrity controls.
- Upload malware, spyware, malicious code, or content designed to interfere with the Service.
- Use AI-generated photos, videos, audio, or messages to deceive or manipulate users without clear disclosure.
- Submit false, malicious, or manifestly unfounded reports.
Our Community Guidelines provide additional examples and enforcement information.
7. User Content and Intellectual Property
7.1 Your Content
You retain ownership of the photos, profile information, messages, reports, support requests, and other content you submit to the Service ("Your Content").
You grant Enshrine a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, process, reproduce, display, transmit, moderate, and adapt Your Content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, provide, improve, and enforce the Service; comply with law; process reports and appeals; and protect users. This license includes the right to make Your Content available to service providers acting on our behalf.
This license ends when Your Content is deleted from active systems, except that copies may remain for a reasonable period in backups, logs, safety records, legal holds, payment records, reports, appeals, or records we are legally or operationally required to retain. Content you sent to other users may remain visible to those users unless deleted by product functionality or removed through moderation.
Enshrine does not claim ownership of Your Content. Enshrine does not sell Your Content or use Your Content in third-party advertising without your consent.
7.2 AI and ML Use of Content
Enshrine may use automated systems to operate matching, safety, moderation, verification, fraud prevention, and product functionality. Enshrine does not use Your Content to train general-purpose AI models for unrelated commercial use unless we obtain consent or use data that has been de-identified or aggregated so it is no longer reasonably linked to you.
7.3 Member Content
Other users retain rights in their content. You may not copy, distribute, exploit, harass, threaten, or commercially use another user's content except as permitted by the Service.
7.4 Enshrine Content
The App, software, logos, trade names, designs, features, text, and other materials we provide are owned by Enshrine or our licensors. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial dating and social purposes in accordance with these Terms.
8. AI-Based Matching and Automated Safety Systems
Enshrine uses automated systems to suggest matches based on profile information, preferences, location, and in-app activity. Match suggestions are not guarantees of compatibility, conduct, identity, safety, or outcome.
Enshrine also uses automated and semi-automated safety systems, including liveness checks, face-match review for ban evasion, on-device image-safety scoring, cloud image review, report triage, and moderation support. Some safety actions may restrict uploads, blur or block images, place content in review, or temporarily restrict access pending human review.
Where required by law, you may request human review of a significant automated decision by contacting [email protected] or using available in-app controls.
9. Location Services
The Service may request location permission for proximity-based matching, discovery, map, and safety-related features. Location may be approximate or precise depending on your device settings and permissions.
You can disable location permissions in your device settings. Some features may not work or may be limited if location is disabled. Enshrine does not sell precise real-time location data.
10. Messaging, Video, and Games
The Service may include messaging, image sharing, video calls, local notifications, and ice-breaker games. You are responsible for your communications and conduct.
Video calls use WebRTC and are not recorded by Enshrine. Connection services may use STUN or TURN infrastructure, including Cloudflare TURN where configured, to help establish a call. Chat images may be scanned before upload or before display for safety.
We may remove content, restrict features, end sessions, or take account action for violations of these Terms or the Community Guidelines.
11. Paid Features and Subscriptions
Enshrine may offer paid features or subscriptions. The current mobile subscription flow is handled through Google Play Billing. If Enshrine later makes the App available through another app store, purchases through that store will be handled by that store's billing system.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled through the applicable app-store account before renewal according to that store's rules. Prices, features, and subscription availability may change with notice where required by law.
Paid features are personal, non-transferable, and have no cash value unless applicable law requires otherwise.
12. Refunds and Cancellation
You must cancel subscriptions through the app store or platform where you purchased them. For the current Google Play subscription flow, billing, cancellation, and refund requests are handled through Google Play.
Except where required by law or app-store rules, purchases are non-refundable. If you have a billing issue not handled by the app store, contact [email protected].
California residents may have additional cancellation rights, including the right to cancel certain subscriptions without penalty before midnight of the third business day after subscribing where applicable law applies.
13. Suspension, Termination, and Appeals
We may warn, restrict, suspend, hold for review, or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms, Community Guidelines, suspected fraud, suspected ban evasion, safety concerns, legal obligations, or platform-integrity issues.
If your account is banned, you may be signed out, blocked from re-registering with the same email, and subject to ban-evasion review. A suspected face-match or safety issue may place an account in pending review before a final enforcement decision.
You may appeal an enforcement action once per incident through the link or instructions in the enforcement notice, through the in-app appeal flow if available, or by contacting [email protected]. Appeals are reviewed by a human moderator, typically within seven days, although complex safety, legal, or identity issues may take longer.
We may preserve records related to bans, appeals, safety incidents, legal holds, fraud prevention, and repeat-offender enforcement as described in the Privacy Policy.
14. Copyright Complaints and Repeat Infringers
If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to:

Your notice should include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim was infringed.
- Identification of the allegedly infringing material and enough information for us to locate it.
- Your name, mailing address, phone number if available, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, the owner's agent, or law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act for the copyright owner.
If your content was removed due to a copyright complaint and you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the same contact. A counter-notice should include your signature, identification of the removed material, the location where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification, and your contact information.
We may remove or disable allegedly infringing content and may terminate repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances.
15. Safety Disclaimer
Enshrine does not conduct criminal background checks and does not guarantee user identity, honesty, intentions, health, criminal history, or safety. Liveness and age checks are limited safeguards and are not a substitute for your own judgment.
You are responsible for your interactions with other users. Use caution, protect personal information, meet in public places, tell someone you trust when meeting someone, and contact emergency services if you are in immediate danger.
16. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, accuracy, or error-free operation.
We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, available in every location, or free from harmful conduct by users.
17. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Enshrine will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, reputation, or business opportunities.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Enshrine's aggregate liability for claims arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of USD $100 or the amounts you paid Enshrine through the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or non-waivable consumer, privacy, or statutory rights where such limitations are prohibited.
18. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Enshrine from third-party claims, damages, losses, and reasonable expenses arising from Your Content, your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of another person's rights.
This indemnity does not apply to claims caused by Enshrine's own unlawful conduct or to the extent prohibited by consumer-protection law.
19. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of Washington, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the mandatory laws of your place of residence require otherwise.
Subject to applicable consumer-protection laws, disputes may be brought in the state or federal courts located in Benton County, Washington. Canadian users may have rights to bring claims in their province or territory of residence where required by law.
Disputes must be brought individually, not as a class or representative action, except where such waiver is prohibited by applicable law. This class-action waiver does not apply to Canadian users where prohibited or unenforceable.
There is no mandatory arbitration under these Terms. Arbitration applies only if both you and Enshrine separately agree in writing after a dispute arises.
20. Third-Party App Store Terms
If you download the App through an app store, these Terms are between you and Enshrine, not the app-store provider. The app-store provider is not responsible for providing support, maintenance, or warranties for the Service except as required by its own terms or applicable law.
